Day 2 – Tuesday 1st October 2013

My homework was to create a train by applying the skills that we have learnt from the previous lectures, to create the train carriage. I created the first polygon cube and with that polygon cube, I copied and pasted it and then made a second polygon cube. I made the second polygon cube smaller than the first one, I then selected the first cone and then the second cone, I used the “Difference” tool which is located in the “Mesh” drop down menu and then in “Booleans”, to create the internal part of the train carriage.

After creating the carriage, I then used polygon cylinder to create the engine and also made sure that the engine part has been aligned to the carriage. For the chimney part of the engine, I used the same method as I created the carriage. To create the dome next to the chimney, I used the polygon sphere.

To create the wheels, I used the polygon cylinder to create two large wheels for the carriage and then selected one of the larger wheels, copied and pasted it, then I used the Scale tool to make the front wheels smaller.
